Cindy will appear at the mezzo soloist with the esteemed Centenary College of Louisiana Camerata, under the direction of Dr. Cory Wikan, in Aaron Copland's In the Beginning, November 16, 7:30 p.m., at the Hurley School of Music.
In the Beginning is one of Copland's three a capella works for chorus. Based on the text of Genesis 1:1 through 2:7, with the mezzo soloist acting as a narrator --- usually unaccompanied --- to the chorus' chant-like refrains. The harmonic language' open intervals, so characteristic o Copland's work, is hymnlike, with gentle blues and jazz references.
The concert is free and open to the public.
